A levels should be certificated at the same sitting, at the first attempt and completed in two years. Chemistry required at full A2 level (grade A) Not essential, as long as you take 2 laboratory based science subjects at A2, with A in Chemistry You need Chemistry and another lab based science (biology, human biology, physics) with A in Chemistry. Cambridge Places Places for international students Percent of applicants getting an offer - 2008 entry AAA - Plus, applicants who do not take three sciences at A2 must have an A in another science at AS A2 Chemistry required Biology not essential as long as you have 2 science subjects at A2 and another at AS Science - note that most applicants for Medicine at Cambridge have at least three science/mathematics A levels.  They do accept 2 sciences at A2 and one at AS in some cases.  In this case, you would need to get straight A grades (AAAa). Peninsula Places for 2010 Places for international students 2010 Percent of applicants getting an offer - 2009 entry A typical offer is 400 UCAS points from a maximum of four A/AS levels. At least 340 points must come from three full GCE A level subjects.  You must have an A grade in a science subject and a minimum grade C in all A/AS subjects. Queen’s Belfast Places Places for overseas students Applicants per place not known for 2009 AAA plus a minimum grade A in a 4th AS subject and an A in AS chemistry Chemistry required at full A2 level, grade A at both AS and A2 Biology is only required to AS level as long as you have maths or physics (in addition to chemistry) to A2 Most other subjects are accepted as a third A2, they recommend you do one non-science to AS.  For candidates offering more than 3 A-levels plus 1 AS-level: e.g. 4 A-levels, the performance in the additional subject will be taken into account in a tie-break situation. Southampton Places Places for overseas students Percent of applicants getting an offer - 2008 entry AAB required with at least a B in A level Chemistry, or BB in AS level Chemistry and Biology/Human Biology. Chemistry is only required to AS  - provided biology or human biology is offered at AS level Biology is not essential provided you have chemistry to A2 level or human biology to AS level. Providing you offer A2 chemistry most other subjects are accepted as second and third A2 subjects.  Non-scientific A levels are considered of equal academic standing to sciences as long as Chemistry is offered to the appropriate level. Subjects where there may be considerable overlap of material will not be accepted in combination (such as combinations of Zoology, Biology or Physical  Education; Maths, Further Maths, or Pure Maths).
