Many medical schools do not publish the entrance criteria for all international qualifications. It is therefore important that you write to each medical school before you apply and ask them if they will accept your qualifications. The best way to do this is to write a letter to the medical schools you might apply to and enclose a CV with all your qualifications and experience.

If you find that some of your qualifications are not accepted, it might still be possible for you to study a 6 year course in the UK. Normally, a medical degree takes 5 years to complete but some universities offer a premedical or foundation year which is designed for students who do not have the traditional requirements for medicine. Some of these courses accept international students so it is worth contacting these medical schools. We have a list of 6 year courses in our course guide.

You should also keep in mind that most universities require evidence of English language qualifications for international students so you should check that your qualifications are recognised or consider taking exams to demonstrate your English skills.
